About Us

Founded in 2017 as a non-profit organisation, Aulesa Biosciences provides scientific consultancy, project management and training to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.


Working in partnership with universities and other research organisations, we deploy multiple “omics” techniques to address specific research questions associated with the development of both small molecule drugs and biotherapeutics.

 

Scientific Consultancy


Consultancy activities include due diligence services such as conducting scientific literature reviews and technology evaluations. We also provide advice regarding experimental design and analysis of both primary data and subsequent bioinformatics towards biological interpretation.


Teaching & Training


Our series of modular, lecture based training courses and workshops are designed to explain the fundamentals of proteomics and metabolomics and demonstrate the use of bioanalytical technologies typically deployed to investigate changes associated with disease, drug treatment or environmental factors.

Using a combination of latest technologies and innovative thinking we are engaged in biomarker research and the discovery of new medicines.


Funding model and Investment Opportunities

 

We are seeking public funding to enable the expansion of our R&D activities. Several grant applications are being pursued and further support from commercial organisations is being considered.



Dr Malcolm Ward

Malcolm is the Principal Scientist at Aulesa. He acquired the first protein mass spectrometry data on thrombin in 1992 whilst at Glaxo Group Research. He has previously managed a core proteomics facility and contributed to numerous biomarker discovery projects.


He currently holds a Visiting Senior Lecturer post at Kings College London where he continues to teach on undergraduate and specialist PhD programmes. He is also developing MALDI-TOF applications for proteins, lipopolysaccharides and other biopolymers.
