Active-8 is our research initiative to discover new antimicrobials from a selection of Natural Product Isolates (NPIs).

We launched the programme in 2017 in response to the growing concern about antibiotic resistance, which is highlighted in Jim O’Neill’s government commissioned report (amr-review.org).

Our poster, presented today during the proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Advances in New Technologies and their Impact on Microbial Research, described preliminary results obtained for the first NPIs - the snail Cepaea and fish of the Cyprindae family.

Our intention now is to engage additional commitment via collaboration and to attract the investment required to expand these important research efforts.

We are delighted to join the AABC, which aims to advance Alzheimer’s disease research and innovation in small, start-up biotechnology, diagnostic and contract research organisations. Becoming a member company will help us achieve our goals and continue our contribution to dementia research. We look forward to sharing our ideas and forging new collaborations within the consortium.

18 - 19th July 2017

We joined over 5600 attendees from 68 countries at the Alzheimer's Association's International Conference held at the Excel Centre, London. We were encouraged by the significant interest in our endeavours to find new biomarkers for tau and other dementia related proteins. We plan to have first results available by the end of 2017 and aim to submit an abstract for next year's conference. Maybe, we'll see you in Chicago !
